Ever since man first began "cooking", the build-up of fats and oils on cooking equipment and utensils has been a problem. With the continued use of the cooking equipment without thorough cleaning between use, the "fat build-up" soon turned into a carbon like crust and would become so hard, it was almost impossible to remove, especially around handles, corners, crevices, etc. Over the centuries, man has strived to combat this carbon crusty "fat build-up". Many kinds of harsh chemicals have reached the market, but due to their corrosive and toxic nature - together with their costly safety requirements, - have not been successful.
The Spectank® System was first developed in 1991. After many years of research and testing, a solution was developed that is "just what the doctor ordered". The solution is called Carbsolve®. Carbsolve® is non-toxic, non-corrosive, environmentally friendly and most of all, user friendly. The first soak tank built was a single skin soak tank with the heating element exposed in the solution. As with most inventions, the prototype presented many unforeseen problems. One by one, the problems were addressed and eventually a suitable tank was built. Through the years of learning, some by trial and error, and experience with Spectank®, a product evolved that works like no other product on the market today.
The Spectank System® - How it works
The Spectank® system is comprised of a specially designed stainless steel soak tank with a thermostatically controlled heating element. This is filled with water and a specially formulated chemical called Carbsolve® is added to this.
Carbsolve® is a non-toxic, non-corrosive, environmentally friendly and user friendly biodegradable cleaning powder, specially formulated for use in a Spectank® system.
The water is heated to approximately 90°C and together, the Spectank®, Carbsolve®, water and heat will remove fat, grease and oil without causing any damage to the parent metal.
A Spectank® System will accommodate the vast majority of items suffering from fat, grease and oil build up. One measured application of Carbsolve® dissolved in approximately 90 litres of water (Mini-Tank) and heated to the operating temperature of approximately 90°C, will clean continuously for 30 days.
Previous methods for cleaning equipment included acid baths, caustic soda baths (damaging aluminium), sand blasting (damaging to metal) or soaking for hours in boiling water and chipping away manually for days repeating the same operation. These "old fashioned" methods are costly, ineffective and dangerous.
With Spectank® and Carbsolve®, a simple overnight soak removes everything with the exception of really crusty carbon build-up, which could require a 24 hour soak or a re-soak at a later stage.
